Workers at seven German airports will go on a 24-hour strike on Friday.

The walkout at airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dortmund, Hanover, and Bremen, is being organized by the Verdi trade union.

  • Airports in Munich and Frankfurt have canceled all flights scheduled for Friday.
  • Verdi called the strike after talks to secure higher wages failed.
  • The union represents ground service workers, public sector airport officials, and aviation security workers. All the groups seek new collective bargaining agreements.
  • Verdi said airport workers deserve a substantial pay raise following a "catastrophic" shortage of ground workers since the start of the pandemic.
