According to Puck News, negotiations between Kevin Costner's team and "Yellowstone" producers about completing Season 5 remain ongoing but have turned contentious.
The second half of the fifth season has yet to shoot, and Costner is also scheduling the completion of his long-time four-film passion project, "Horizon."
- The first film in the "Horizon" epic is already shot and was originally scheduled for release this year; actual distribution plans for the films remain in limbo.
- Costner is now telling Paramount he won't become available until October at the earliest, pushing the second half of "Yellowstone" Season 5 to the end of the year or possibly even 2024.
- Based on Puck's reporting, Sheridan has yet to even write the second half of "Yellowstone" Season 5 due to uncertainty about Costner's availability.
- Tensions between Costner's and Sheridan's teams have also mounted due to other issues, including a dismissive tweet about Sheridan's show "Tulsa King" which was posted by Costner's assistant and later deleted.
