Amazon announced a new system for dealing with problematic product images on its e-commerce site.

The workflow shift, announced on Wednesday, is intended to support brands by expediting the process of investigating and resolving image-related concerns.

Amazon posted an announcement on a seller board informing third-party merchants that its procedure for flagging image problems has changed.

  • A "remove images" button will allow users to escalate cases where images on the detail page fail to align with Amazon's Product Guidelines.
  • Another change provides merchants a simple way to query and resolve instances where their product images do not appear as expected.
  • Sellers expressed hope that the changes would address issues related to impersonation and improper use of existing procedures.
  • One of the commenters noted that they had spent "countless hours trying to undo sabotage on product pages" and that "There have been instances where someone or some seller somehow claimed to be an authorized agent of a clothing brand and would gatekeep changes."
