A class action lawsuit was filed against Amazon on Thursday.

suit alleges that the company broke New York City laws by using "Just
Walk Out" technology in stores without informing customers.

failing to post signage informing customers that facial recognition
technology will be used.
- Facial recognition forms part of
Amazon's "Just Walk Out" technology, which allows customers to select
items from stores and walk out without proceeding through a conventional
checkout process.
- The e-commerce giant makes use of the technology in its Amazon Fresh and Amazon Go outlets.
- The
lawsuit notes that Amazon did eventually put up signs but argues that
they were installed over a year after New York City passed the biometric
data disclosure law.
