Citing security concerns, Google has suspended the Chinese e-commerce app Pinduoduo from its Play store.

 

Citing security concerns, Google has suspended the Chinese e-commerce app Pinduoduo from its Play store.  The company said malware was discovered in versions of Pinduoduo available outside of its own app store. Google said downloads for the app's Play version remain suspended while the company conducts an investigation. The company is warning all users to uninstall off-store versions of Pinduoduo, the main shopping app from parent company PDD Holdings. In a statement, PDD rejected any claims that its app was “malicious,” calling Google’s allegations “generic and non-conclusive." Meanwhile, PDD's other online shopping app, Temu, remains available to download on Google's app store in the U.S. As of last month, Temu was the most downloaded shopping app on both Android and iOS in the U.S.
