Duolingo developing music-learning app

Language-learning app Duolingo is reportedly developing an app that will teach concepts of music to users.

TechCrunch uncovered a job posting for a "learning scientist for music" at the company.

  • Duolingo said it's searching for a music education expert who has both "theoretical knowledge of relevant learning science research and hands-on teaching experience."
  • The learning scientist will join a small team that's working on "a research-informed app for teaching music."
  • The app will be based on the concept of learning by doing, according to the job post.
  • According to TechCrunch, the product may "teach basic concepts in music theory using popular songs and teachers."

  • Duolingo unveiled its new math app in beta for iOS and iPadOS in August 2022.
  • Last week, the company announced a paid subscription tier that includes two chatbot features, which explain why a user's answers were right or wrong and let users try out their language conversation skills.
