Coinbase is running a new advertisement that criticizes the U.S. financial system.
The campaign will be aired during the NBA playoffs, but the 60-second ad has already been posted to Coinbase's Twitter account and is running in Washington, DC, on local TV.
The ad targets numerous parts of the financial system that Americans contend with daily, including bank fees, the role of notaries, and using ATMs.
- Coinbase's Chief Marketing officer Kate Rouch says that the ad highlights a change in Coinbase's marketing strategy from explaining how cryptocurrencies work to actively communicating why consumers should favor cryptocurrencies over the existing financial system.
- When the NBA playoffs start, the campaign will grow to include digital and social media pushes and two additional 30-second ads on TV.
- Coinbase is currently facing significant pressure from regulators, including an ongoing investigation by the SEC which could force Coinbase to shut its staking service.
