Linden Labs is developing a mobile version of the "Second Life" metaverse game, which has over 73 million accounts and reported 900,000 active users during the pandemic.

 The mobile version will be built using Unity and available on iOS and Android devices, Ars Technica has reported.

  • Linden Labs plans to make the mobile version much like the desktop game.
  • Second Life game offers virtual events such as music performances, shopping fairs, conventions, and exhibitions.
  • The company decided to pivot to mobile to become "cash-positive."
  • A beta version of the mobile app is expected to launch later this year.

  • Linden Labs had previously worked on a VR version of the game called Sansar but sold the rights in 2020.
