NASCAR driver Erik Jones donated a book lending machine to his old elementary school in Byron, Michigan.
The machine was unveiled during pep rallies held earlier in March to celebrate Reading Month.
Byron Elementary teacher Tammy Laurin contacted Jones, a former student of hers, and told him about her plan to acquire a book vending machine for the school.
- Laurin said her goal is to "bring the love of books to the next generation of readers."
- Jones started a #READwithErik program via his foundation in the early days of the pandemic.
- Since then, he has read more than 50 children's books to kids on his Facebook page and at NASCAR events.
- Jones' website features a list of the books he is currently reading, plus a list of fan-recommended books.
