Netflix grabbed six total Oscars
on Sunday night off of 14 nominations, including both Animated Feature
Film (for "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio") and International Feature
(for "All Quiet on the Western Front").
The only studio to perform better was A24, which took home nine trophies.
- The
German-language war drama "All Quiet on the Western Front" received
four Oscars from nine nominations; in addition to international feature,
it also won for James Friend's cinematography, Volker Bertelmann's
score, and the production design by Christian Goldbeck and Ernestine
Hipper.
- Netflix's "The Elephant Whisperers" was also named the Best Documentary Short.
- Netflix walked away from the 2022 Oscars with just one trophy, for Jane Campion's direction of "The Power of the Dog."
- Seven
of A24's nine awards went to the night's big winner, "Everything
Everywhere All At Once," which swept all the major categories except
Best Actor (which went to Brendan Fraser of A24's "The Whale") and
Adapted Screenplay.
- CNN Films won its first Oscar in history for the documentary "Navalny."
