Netflix wins 6 Oscars

Netflix grabbed six total Oscars on Sunday night off of 14 nominations, including both Animated Feature Film (for "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio") and International Feature (for "All Quiet on the Western Front").

The only studio to perform better was A24, which took home nine trophies.

  • The German-language war drama "All Quiet on the Western Front" received four Oscars from nine nominations; in addition to international feature, it also won for James Friend's cinematography, Volker Bertelmann's score, and the production design by Christian Goldbeck and Ernestine Hipper.
  • Netflix's "The Elephant Whisperers" was also named the Best Documentary Short.
  • Netflix walked away from the 2022 Oscars with just one trophy, for Jane Campion's direction of "The Power of the Dog."
  • Seven of A24's nine awards went to the night's big winner, "Everything Everywhere All At Once," which swept all the major categories except Best Actor (which went to Brendan Fraser of A24's "The Whale") and Adapted Screenplay.
  • CNN Films won its first Oscar in history for the documentary "Navalny."
