Online sales in U.S. up 8.5%

 

Online and other non-store sales in February were up 8.5% YoY in the U.S

Overall retail sales slumped 0.4% from January despite the strength of the online economy.

  • The U.S. Commerce Department released data on Wednesday showing that overall retail sales declined slightly in February compared to the previous month.
  • Car sales declined by 1.8% month over month, along with sporting goods, which fell by 0.5%.
  • Online and other non-store sales rose by 1.6% month over month and 8.5% YoY.
  • NRF chief economist Jack Kleinhenz noted that consumer spending remains robust, considering that February is usually the slowest month of the year.
