Home Depot's new merchandising chief

Home Depot selected Billy Bastek as its new executive vice president of merchandising. Bastek takes the position after playing a key role in the growth of the home improvement retailer's online power tool business.

  • Bastek began working for Home Depot as its vice president of hardware and tools, where he helped grow the company's online sales of tools.
  • He then worked as Home Depot's senior vice president of hardlines, which saw him manage merchandising and marketing strategies for the company's hardware and garden departments.
  • In his new role as merchandising chief, Bastek will be responsible for selecting products to be offered for sale to consumers.
  • He replaces Jeff Kinnaird, who suddenly decided to leave the company, according to the release.
  • Home Depot reported sales of $157.4B for fiscal 2022, a 4% jump from the previous year.
