Over half of the parents of Generation Alpha children who responded to a recent survey said their children watch videos related to shopping.
The report by business intelligence firm Morning Consult reveals the
importance of social media and influencers on future shopping behavior.
- The
report found that 72% of parents with kids aged 5 to 7 and 75% of
parents with children over 8 or 9 said their children asked for products
they saw online.
- The data also found that Generation Alpha children begin influencing household purchases from age 5.
- The data is consistent across different income brackets.
- The Morning Consult report is consistent with data from a Wunderman Thompson Commerce report, which
found that 55% of children between the ages of 6 and 16 want to
purchase products displayed by Instagram and YouTube influencers.
