Portland, Oregon-based cloud cybersecurity company Orca Security has added new data security posture management (DPSM) capabilities to its Orca Cloud Security Platform.
These new capabilities purport to provide enhanced data discovery and management.
Orca specializes in workload security for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Orca claims its new DPSM capabilities help users identify, prioritize, and mitigate sensitive data at risk.
- The new features identify and manage sensitive shadow data and misplaced data stored in managed and self-hosted cloud environments and files on virtual machines, containers, and cloud storage buckets spanning multi-cloud environments.
- Shadow data refers to any data unknown to organizations’ security teams and is thus not formally managed or governed by IT teams. Shadow data is largely enabled by cloud computing, which allows data to be spread to various places that are not tracked regularly.
- The new DPSM tools also provide more comprehensive insight into possible cloud vulnerabilities, malware, misconfigurations, lateral movement risks, IAM risks, and application programming interface risks.
