Seven Ohio law enforcement officials sued rapper Afroman, accusing him of improperly using footage of a police raid on his home in a music video.

Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, allegedly violated the officers' right to privacy by using security footage of the August 2022 raid that showed the officers' faces.

  • Foreman made an Instagram post on Wednesday saying he plans to countersue the officers for damages.
  • Foreman included footage from the raid in the video of his song "Will You Help Me Repair My Door."
  • He also announced a line of merchandise showing the faces of some of the officers.
  • The plaintiffs are seeking all of the profits that Foreman generated from the use of their personas.
  • No charges were ever filed against Foreman in relation to the raid. The rapper alleged that officers tried to steal cash that was confiscated from the property.

Zoom Out:

  • Afroman is a marijuana enthusiast who is best known for his song, "Because I Got High."
  • The 48-year-old rapper announced his intention to run for president in December, saying that he would be, "Our Cannabis Commander in Chief."
