Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to validate the integration of its network APIs at its edge location in Madrid.
This strategic collaboration combines AWS edge services with Telefónica’s quality on-demand services (QoD) to facilitate the application-building process for developers.
Telefónica is introducing an Early Adopter Program to empower developers to conduct the first integration and validation of services based on network APIs.
- Both companies worked with Cinfo, a Spanish startup specializing in cloud-based automatic TV production systems, to trial QoD with AWS Wavelength, its 5G edge computing infrastructure.
- In the pilot, Cinfo was able to leverage the AWS Wavelength Zone, and Telefónica’s 5G enhanced connectivity to successfully produce a live streaming event for the Madrid Volleyball Federation via its TiiVii solution, a cloud-based automated video production service powered by AI.
- The pilot results showed that latency was reduced by ~20 milliseconds and jitter by ~90% during cell congestion, indicating a positive user experience.
- Developers will be able to build network-aware applications with greater ease by incorporating technology offerings from both companies.
