Uber is adding airport navigation to its app.
The company said it's launching walking instructions within its app that will guide riders from airport landing gates to their ride pick-up locations.
The step-by-step instructions will include both photos and text to help users navigate through more than 30 U.S. and international airports and fund their Uber drivers.
- Additionally, Uber said it will now begin estimating walking ETAs, including the time it takes to get to baggage claims, at 400+ airports.
- The goal is to help riders and drivers locate each other more easily and reduce idling and traffic congestion at airports, Uber said.
- The first U.S. airports to get the features include ATL, BWI, BOS, DFW, ORD, LAX, MIA, JFK, SFO, DCI, and others.
- Internationally, the instructions will roll out to BLR, DEL, LHR, MAD, MEX, CDG, FCO, CGH, SYD, and others.
The company is also adding new options for its pre-booking feature, Uber Reserve.
- Customers can now book rides up to 90 days in advance, up from 30 days. Reserve is also expanding to most cities in the U.S. and Canada.
