Ulta shifts e-commerce to Google

 

Ulta Beauty is shifting its e-commerce infrastructure to Google's cloud technology and services. 

The company, which is the largest beauty retailer in the U.S., plans to upgrade its online store with more personalized customer experiences.

  • Ulta Beauty started shifting away from its own on-premises e-commerce infrastructure in 2019.
  • The company is continuing to move its digital retail processes to Google Cloud, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Google Cloud's Anthos managed services solution. 
  • Ulta Beauty plans to relaunch its e-commerce platform with microservices that can be tested and repaired more easily.
  • The company's Q4 results topped Wall Street expectations, with net sales growing by 18.2% YoY to $3.2B.
