A federal judge dismissed most of the claims filed by Amazon against two former real estate managers for AWS data center developments.
AWS data centers are one of Amazon's most lucrative operations and give its e-commerce business a competitive advantage.
- The
e-commerce giant accused Carl Nelson and Casey Kirschner of defrauding
the company to the tune of tens of millions of dollars through a
"kickback scheme" and filed eight charges against them.
- A
federal judge issued a summary ruling on April 6 dismissing seven
charges. The ruling will allow the charge of "civil conspiracy" to
proceed to trial.
- Amazon responded to the ruling by saying that it would continue to pursue the case.
- The
e-commerce giant emphasized that two of Nelson and Kirschner's alleged
co-conspirators have already pleaded guilty to illegally profiting from
Amazon’s real estate development projects.
