Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Kenya’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) Authority are collaborating to launch the AWS Academy to prepare 10,000 students for careers in the cloud.
This joint initiative aims to promote ICT readiness and forge a pathway between academic institutions and the ICT industry.
- AWS Academy
provides higher education institutions with a free, ready-to-teach
cloud computing curriculum that helps students earn industry-recognized
certifications and land sought-out careers in the cloud industry.
- The
program starts this June and purports to provide participants with the
cloud skills needed to work in entry-level tech roles, thus
kick-starting their cloud careers.
- Data from Linkedin reveals that cloud computing is one of the hard skills in the highest demand among companies.
- This partnership has allowed AWS to collaborate with startups and other organizations, including Gebeya, a Pan-African startup headquartered in Ethiopia that offers a freelance talent marketplace.
