Artifact, the AI-powered news aggregation app from Instagram's founders

Artifact, the AI-powered news aggregation app from Instagram's founders, has incorporated several new social features under its beta testing experience.

The app, which is being compared to Reddit, relies on AI to curate and recommend personalized news stories and moderate content.

  • Artifact's new features allow users to create profiles and discuss and comment on articles.
  • The profiles include a photo, bio, and reputation score.
  • Like Reddit, the app lets users upvote and downvote comments, which can raise or lower the poster's reputation score.
  • Artifact has also launched read notifications to let users know when contacts have seen their shared article.

  • Artifact comes from Instagram creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, who referred to the new app as "a personalized news feed driven by the latest in artificial intelligence."
  • Launched in February, it's available to download on iOS and Android.
