Musk, Twitter's owner and CEO, issued the threat as Microsoft winds down support for the social media platform on its corporate advertising platform.
- Musk said in a tweet on Wednesday that Microsoft "trained illegally using Twitter data. Lawsuit time."
- The message was posted in response to an earlier tweet announcing that Microsoft would drop Twitter from its corporate advertising platform.
- Microsoft's decision will prevent Twitter users from accessing their accounts through Microsoft's social management tool.
- Musk said in another tweet that he was "open to ideas," to keep working with Microsoft.
- However,
he added that "ripping off the Twitter database, demonetizing it
(removing ads) and then selling our data to others isn't a winning
solution."
- Microsoft announced on its website that it would "no longer support Twitter," on its advertising platform from April 25.
- The announcement came after Twitter revealed that it would charge users of its API, including Microsoft, $42,000 per month.
