Cincinnati barber Vernon Jackson works on his off days to give free haircuts to children with special needs.

The good samaritan told CBS News that he has been donating his time this way since 2021.

  • Jackson said he felt compelled to help after reading "horror stories" about parents who encountered barbers that had "no patience" with their special needs children.
  • He decided to start offering haircuts on his day off because "there would be no other barbers or stylists in the shop."
  • He noted that a quiet atmosphere puts special needs children at ease, since they are often sensitive to new sounds and environments.
  • You can watch Jackson giving one of his free haircuts in this viral video.
