Disney layoffs

Disney started its second and largest wave of layoffs on Monday.

The company will cut around 4,000 jobs this week, out of a total of 7,000 planned layoffs for the year.

  • According to a memo from co-chairman Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, impacted workers will be notified some time before Thursday.
  • A third and final round of layoffs are scheduled for the start of summer.
  • This round of cuts will come from the company's Entertaiment, ESPN, and Parks divisions, though they will not include front-line workers at the company's theme parks.
  • The cuts are part of an overall plan to save the company $5.5 billion in total costs.
