Gala Music, a subsidiary of Web3 gaming startup Gala Games, announced that it would launch an unreleased version of David Bowie's famous 1983 hit "Let's Dance" as an NFT through a limited-edition collection.
The
firm has partnered with music producer Larry Dvoskin and publisher
Warner Chappell Music, a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, to release
the never-before-heard version of the song at its 40th anniversary.
- The collection consists of 3,003 NFTs.
- Each NFT
will include artwork created with inspiration from Bowie and unlock
exclusive access to the unreleased version of the 1983 track.
- The unreleased version was originally produced by Dvoskin with Bowie in 2002, 14 years before the famous musician passed away.
- Dvoskin defines the unaired recording as a more dreamy, electronic version of the song.
- The NFT will be purchased with a pay-what-you-wish model in which buyers pay the amount they desire for a commodity on sale.
- All
the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the MusiCares charity
that offers health and human services to the music community.
- David
Bowie is considered one of the most influential musicians of all time,
with his catalog of 27 studio albums, 11 live albums, four soundtracks,
and 128 singles.
- Warner Chappell Music currently owns Bowie's entire music catalog.
