GOOD NEWS: A badly injured bald eagle

GOOD NEWS: A badly injured bald eagle was released into the wild following a months-long recovery.

The three-year-old bird was almost lifeless when it was found in the town of Gilboa, New York.

  • The eagle was taken to the town's maintenance facility on January 25 after it was found by workers who were plowing a road.
  • It was rehabilitated at the Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center, where it started showing signs of improvement after only one day.
  • The wildlife center continued to support the bird's healing process for 60 days before releasing it back into the wild last month near the location where it was discovered.
  • Bald eagles are a conservation success story, with the population of nesting pairs increasing from 417 in 1963 to 71,467 in 2019.
