Italian authorities have launched an investigation into Amazon and British American Tobacco.
The probe relates to allegedly misleading advertising for a tobacco product.
- Italy's Competition Authority said on Tuesday the Glo Hyper X2 tobacco heater had been improperly marketed as "nicotine-free."
- Regulators alleged that the "deceptiveness" of the product's marketing could influence minors to unknowingly harm their health.
- Amazon will be included in the probe because the product was sold on its e-commerce platform.
- Amazon launched its Italian e-commerce website in 2010 and opened its first logistics facility in the country in 2011.
