Japan PM assassination attempt

Japanese police seized bomb-making equipment from the home of a man suspected of throwing a homemade pipe bomb at Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Saturday.

Kishida, who was about to give a campaign speech, was unharmed but a police officer was injured. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene.

  • The thermos-like artifact landed near Kishida, who had been evacuated by the time the bomb exploded.
  • It is still unclear what the culprit's motive was.
