Japan PM assassination attempt

 

Japanese police seized bomb-making equipment from the home of a man suspected of throwing a homemade pipe bomb at Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Saturday.  Kishida, who was about to give a campaign speech, was unharmed but a police officer was injured. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene. The thermos-like artifact landed near Kishida, who had been evacuated by the time the bomb exploded. It is still unclear what the culprit's motive was. A handmade gun was used to assassinate former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last year. Nobuo Komiya, a professor of criminology at Japan's Rissho University, said that the threat of homemade bombs and guns is increasing because of 3D printers.
