NaaS Technology launching EV charging robot

 

Reports surfaced that Alfa Romeo's first electric car, a small crossover, would be released in 2024. The brand sold a total of 12,845 vehicles in the U.S. in 2022.

Samsung SDI opened a new battery research center in Shanghai, where it seeks to discover new materials. The news comes a month after the battery company revealed its plan to supply General Motors with cylindrical battery cells.

 

 

 

Ford is planning to invest $1.3B in its Oakville facility in Ontario, Canada, to transition the assembly plant to the production of electric vehicles. The automaker sold 10,866 EVs in Q1 2023.

Uber revealed it would begin including shared e-bikes in its app in Brazil through a partnership with local operator Tembici. This week, the mobility giant also announced it would fund a buy-back program for e-bikes in New York City.

CarMax reported a 21.1% YoY decrease in used vehicle sales in Q1 to $4.5B. The company's CEO, Bill Nash, said it was affected by "affordability pressured by broad inflation [and] climbing interest rates," as it focuses on operational efficiencies. 

Vermont state legislators are proposing a per-mileage tax for EV owners. Michele Boomhower of the state's transportation agency said the proposal is part of a fiscal dilemma as consumers purchase fewer ICE cars and thus will not pay the gas tax.

Chinese company NaaS Technology is launching a deep-learning powered robot that charges electric vehicles and connects with major OEMs via an API. NaaS claims its robot is waterproof and can be summoned using one-click ordering.
