Netflix ads more subscribers

 

The numbers: Netflix added another 1.75 million subscribers in Q1 2023 to raise its subscriber count to 232.5 million global subscribers. 

Past performance: Last year, the company's subscriber count fell in Q1; introducing an ad-supported tier has helped the company's growth, as Bloomberg estimates that 1 million of Netflix's subscribers are now on the ad-supported tier. 

Stock price: The company's stock price has also risen significantly since introducing the new ad-supported tier, intended to help Netflix compete with Disney+, Max, Peacock, and other streaming services.
