NETFLIX'S "KINGDOM"

Netflix committed to spending $2.5 billion on original Korean film and TV projects over the next four years.

That's about double the streamer's spending on Korean content since 2016.

  • Netflix made the announcement following a meeting between co-CEO Ted Sarandos and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Washington DC.
  • Netflix's largest international hit to date -- "Squid Game" -- comes from Korea; other recent breakout successes from the country include the revenge drama "The Glory" and the reality competition series "Physical 100."
  • Disney+ and Apple TV+ have also recently expanded their upcoming slates of Korean original content.
