A network breach has barred users of the Western Digital My Cloud service from accessing their data for more than 24 hours.
An unknown group of threat actors is believed to be behind the attack.
- Western Digital is a California-based company specializing in data storage solutions.
- This past weekend, multiple My Cloud users began reporting that they could not access their data.
- On April 3, Western Digital issued an update
regarding the network security incident, which states that the company
first discovered the security incident on Sunday, Mar. 26, and that “an
unauthorized third party gained access to a number of the company’s
systems.”
- According to the My Cloud status page,
the My Cloud Home and My Cloud OS 5 Services are still down, and the
Western Digital team is “working urgently to resolve this issue and
restore access as soon as possible.”
