Nvidia announces RTX 4070

Nvidia announced its mid-range GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, which starts at $599 and ships on Thursday.

It is the least expensive GPU in Nvidia's popular RTX 40 series of graphics processing units (GPUs), which are geared toward gamers.

  • The new RTX 4070 is a successor to Nvidia's RTX 3060, which was the fourth most popular gaming chip based on Steam survey data from March.
  • The RTX 4070 uses Nvidia's Ada Lovelace architecture and can deliver 1440p gaming at over 100 frames per second with AI-enabled DLSS 3 frame generation and ray tracing turned on.
  • DLSS 3, which is only available in RTX 40-series cards, boosts frame rates significantly using artificial intelligence frame generation technology.
  • RTX 4070 starts at $599 for the Founders Edition single-fan model.
  • The other GPUs in the lineup include the $1,599 RTX 4090, $1,199 RTX 4080, and $799 RTX 4070 Ti.
