Snap is introducing augmented reality (AR) services for businesses and an AI-powered chatbot to its 750 million monthly active users.
Evan Spiegel's social networking company's latest initiatives come
after a bruising stock sell-off and in the wake of disruptive changes to
Apple's privacy policies, Financial Times reports.
- The
platform restricts the chatbot's responses because of Snap's young
audience, and Snap has added features to ensure that age-appropriate
conversations are conducted.
- Snap is also expanding its AR
Enterprise Services (ARES) platform to help businesses offer sizing and
fitting recommendations to potential customers using AR.
- Snap is selling a new AR mirror-like device that allows users to see themselves with clothes overlaid on their images.
- Snap's
initiatives come as its social media rivals seek groundbreaking
technologies, with Facebook parent Meta using AI to create an
avatar-filled "metaverse" accessed through virtual reality headsets.
