Which business sectors are already investing in the metaverse

 



What the numbers say: According to a 2022 Metaverse study by Sortlist, the computer and IT sector is leading the way in metaverse investment, responsible for 17% overall.  The education sector is second, with 12%.  They are followed by the industries of finance (11%) and marketing and advertising (10%), confirming the massive potential businesses see in the metaverse as another income stream.

Relevance: The metaverse could represent a $1T market by the end of the decade, according to CB Insights’ Industry Analyst Consensus. Within a few years, VR headsets have evolved from clunky setups requiring a wired connection to a specced-out computer to user-friendly, self-contained devices. 

Brands that should care: The gaming industry is already a major driver of the metaverse. In 2021, the global gaming industry was worth $175.8B, expected to grow to $295.6B by 2025. Facebook, Roblox, Nike, and Disney are among the brands and companies already investing in the metaverse.
