Sports retailer Lids Hat Drop is launching a new store that uses an e-commerce concept based on limited-edition products. 

 The Houston retail outlet will be Lids HD's second location based on its new format, which was first used in a store in Queens, N.Y.

  • Lids launched an e-commerce site called HatDrop.com in 2022, which offers limited edition products.
  • Stock is "dropped" in limited quantities twice weekly, a model that was later employed by the retailer's physical outlet in New York.
  • The New York location drops limited quantities of new exclusive hats every Friday. 
  • The new store in Houston will include dedicated "drop" locations and allow shoppers to customize their headwear.
  • Lids is the largest retailer specializing in branded headwear, with over 1,500 stores in North America, Europe, and Australia.
