Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company Ericsson has acquired N.J.-based cloud security solutions provider Ericom for an undisclosed sum. Ericsson completed the buyout through Cradlepoint, its U.S.-based technology company that specializes in cloud-managed wireless edge networking equipment.

  • The deal allows Cradlepoint to expand its enterprise wireless solutions portfolio by embedding Ericom features into its Cradlepoint NetCloud Threat Defense cloud service.
  • Cradlepoint will also leverage Ericom’s secure access service edge (SASE) capabilities, including secure web gateway (SWG), zero-trust network access (ZTNA), and cloud access security broker (CASB) to enable users to enforce security policies for their data and applications.
  • According to a company press release, Ericom’s deep expertise in remote access and cloud-delivered web security aid in Cradlepoint’s strategy to build and enhance its full-stack enterprise security service optimized for 5G.
