Twitter has lifted some restrictions it placed on Substack, allowing users to once again like or retweet posts featuring links to the blogging site.
Twitter temporarily disabled those abilities shortly after Substack announced its own tweet-like posts last week.
- Substack's new "Notes" feature will let users share short posts and other content in a dedicated feed.
- A
day after it was unveiled, Twitter began blocking users from liking,
retweeting, or replying to posts that had the word “Substack."
- Users
who clicked on Substack links on Twitter received notifications stating
that “some actions on this Tweet have been disabled by Twitter.”
- Twitter has now ended those limitations. However, it's still redirecting users who search for the word "Substack" to "newsletter."
- In
response, Substack said it's making Notes "available soon" but expects
it to be a new location within a subscription network and "not a
replacement for existing social networks."
- Twitter did not respond to media requests for comment.
