In a post to Reddit, YouTube TV executives shared details on some picture quality enhancements that are coming soon to the app.
Currently,
most YouTube TV channels stream in 720p, but the service is testing out
a new upgrade that would increase the bitrate to 1080p for most
content.
- 1080p stream testing will continue throughout the spring and will hopefully be locked in by summer, according to the post.
- Hulu with Live TV and DirecTV's cord-cutting service both feature better picture quality currently than YouTube TV.
- YouTube TV recently introduced a "multiview" feature for March Madness streams, and will soon launch the NFL Sunday Ticket package.
