Amazon shareholders reject proposals

 

Amazon held its annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday. 

 Investors voted down all 18 shareholder-led proposals presented at the gathering.

  • Environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-focused Amazon investors presented 18 proposals at the meeting.
  • The proposals included efforts to increase animal welfare standards, union rights, and workers' rights.
  • Activist investor Tulipshare pushed for an independent audit of Amazon's warehouses.
  • Proposals must gain support from over 50% of shareholders to win approval.
  • Amazon reserves the right not to adopt proposals that pass the 50% threshold.
