Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the general availability (GA) of its
AWS Verified Access
cybersecurity service.
This new offering was first unveiled at AWS re:Invent 2022 last November.
AWS Verified Access allows customers to provide VPN-less, secure access to their corporate applications.
-
The new cybersecurity service is built on AWS Zero Trust principles, a security model centered on the idea that access to data should not be solely based on network location, therefore
implementing identity-based authorization rules to prevent unwanted access to applications, data, and other systems.
-
According to an
AWS blog post
, AWS Verified Access provides IT administrators and developers with real-time contextual signals, including identity and device posture, to enable them to define fine-grain access
per application.
-
The solution is newly equipped with two additional features since its launch in Nov. 2022, including integration with AWS Web Application Firewall (WAF) to protect web
applications from application-layer threats and support for signed identity context, which enables more personalized applications by eliminating the need to re-authenticate the user for
personalization.
