This move comes right after the U.K. CMA decided to
block
;Microsoft's proposed purchase of Activision for $69B.
Microsoft's agreement with Nware makes its PC titles available for streaming on Nware's platform. Activision Blizzard games will also be offered on the platform if the $68.7B acquisition gets
approved.
This is part of Microsoft's strategy to make its games accessible on various gaming platforms amid concerns that its proposed buyout would make Activision games exclusively available on
Microsoft's cloud gaming service and ;result in a monopoly.
Microsoft president and vice-chair Brad Smith announced the news on Twitter, stating that"this new partnership combined with our other recent commitments will make more popular games
available on more cloud game streaming services than they are today."
Microsoft's "other recent commitments" refer to its recent cloud gaming partnerships with
Boosteroid
EE
, and
Ubitus
The $69B deal is still awaiting approval from the European Commission, which is set to release a decision by May 22.
In Dec. 2022, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
sued
to block the takeover, which will be followed by a court hearing in August.
