Diversity of CMOs

 

The Figures: Representation of women and ethnic minorities as CMOs of Fortune 500 companies is increasing. Nearly half of all CMOs (47%) are now women, up from 44% in 2021. Amongst the top 100 advertisers, women account for 53% of CMOs.

Tenure: CMOs have the shortest tenure of any C-Suite roles. While the average Fortune 500 CEO serves 6.7 years, the average CMO serves just 4.2 years.

Top Advertiser Tenure: The data shows that the trend of short CMO tenures is even more pronounced when analyzing top 100 advertisers, where 29% of the current CMOs are in their first year compared to just 18% of all Fortune 500 Companies.
