NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is partnering with NVIDIA and others to build a digital replica of Earth called the Earth Observation Digital Twin. It uses AI technology and NVIDIA's Omniverse computing platform to analyze NOAA's massive datasets and display real-time findings. NOAA is facing the challenge of consolidating and utilizing vast amounts of data collected from different sensors and formats across satellites.
According to a report released in February 2023 by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), digital twins are being utilized in a wide range of applications, including supply chain optimization, agricultural management, and manufacturing. |
