Nordstrom will shut down its stores in downtown San Francisco.   The move comes as the company continues to focus on digital technology as part of its "Closer to You" strategy. Nordstrom will close its flagship store at San Francisco Centre and a nearby off-price Rack outlet. Chief Stores Officer Jamie Nordstrom said the firm would focus on its 16 nearby Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack locations in addition to its online operations. Nordstrom noted the remainder of the company's store fleet would "continue to play a critical part in delivering our Closer to You strategy." The strategy aims to offer services for customers in their neighborhoods, including order pickup and returns.
