Researchers have discovered  new vulnerabilities  in the Border Gateway Protocol.

The flaws could allow attackers to intercept traffic and redirect it.

The vulnerabilities affect BGP implementations in multiple operating systems, including Cisco IOS XR, Juniper Junos, and FRRouting.

  • The flaws allow attackers to send specially crafted BGP messages that cause routing tables to be altered, allowing traffic to be redirected to attacker-controlled servers.
  • Attackers could use this technique to steal sensitive information, launch man-in-the-middle attacks, or carry out other malicious activities.
  • The researchers have notified affected vendors and have recommended that users update their BGP implementations to the latest versions as soon as possible.
