Migu announced new immersive and AI innovations

Migu announced new immersive and AI innovations to debut at upcoming sports events, including the Asian Games 2023.

The new technologies include 5G, 8K, XR, metaverse platforms, and wider AI adoptions like generative AI.

Migu, a subsidiary of China Mobile with approximately 1 billion users, will stream over 700 FIFA Women's World Cup matches, FIBA Basketball World Cup, Asian Games, and Chengdu 2021 Summer World University Games.

  • The streaming will feature 5G and 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting, along with the creation of a sport-themed metaverse virtual world that offers streaming, social, and shopping experiences.
  • Migu plans to invest over 100 million yuan ($14.1M) to support mini-video creation and boost the ecosystem and creator community.
  • At a mini-video event held by Migu and Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), several videos were awarded, including a spotlight on the mini-video "China's Voice in Winter Olympics."

MIGU and Guangdong Mobile achieved a milestone in 2019 by presenting the world's first 24-hour live streaming of a music festival in China, using 4K VR technology and the 5G NSA network.
