Shipping giant Maersk ordered 25 Volvo FH electric trucks

Shipping giant Maersk ordered 25 Volvo FH electric trucks for its operations in Germany, with the addition of 23 vehicles in Q1 2024.

This adds to a previous Maersk order of 126 Volvo VNR electric vehicles for use in the U.S.

"We see rising demand from our customers for cleaner end-to-end transportation solutions with minimal greenhouse gas emissions," said Jens-Ole Krenzien, Maerk's managing director for Northern Europe.

  • The company plans to use the EVs for its new warehouse in Duisburg, in the Dresden area.
  • Maersk has also ordered 300 electric trucks from Swedish manufacturer Einride.
  • Maersk stock was up 1.16% for the day on Thursday morning.
