Tonys set streaming record

The 76th Tony Awards telecast improved on 2022's ratings, drawing a three-year high of 4.31 million live viewers on Sunday.

The show streamed for a second year on Paramount+ and improved on last year's viewership by around 13%, according to CBS.

Sunday night's viewership was up around 2% overall vs. 2022's Tonys.

  • The 90-minute pre-show -- "The Tony Awards: Act One" -- was also the most-watched live event in the history of Pluto TV.
  • Though this was the most-watched Tonys since 2019, the show's audience still hasn't returned to its pre-pandemic high of around 5.4 million viewers.
  • Striking writers agreed not to picked the actual award ceremony on Sunday, but didn't provide any scripting services, resulting in an entirely off-the-cuff, banter-free ceremony.
