Uber plans to introduce video ads in its ride-hailing app, Uber Eats, and Drizly. The ads will begin in the U.S. this week and will expand to the U.K., France, and Australia later this year. The ads will appear during trips or while users wait for a ride, or after placing orders in Uber Eats and in search results in Drizly, the alcohol-ordering app Uber acquired in 2021.
Ad sales are a significant part of Uber's growth strategy. The company has already been selling static display ads on Uber Eats since 2019 and in its ride-hailing app since last year.
